#104372 - This is really a long time ...
Responding to: Jörg Rockstroh's previous message
It feels kind of strange to work in an industry where development is everything and to use devices, which are as old as I am. Or even older ...

It must be a good part then, right?

I don't think many of us are using the vanilla 8051 that was introduced 25 years ago. The CPU core may be essentially the same (albeit faster), but the peripherals and memory make it a very different beast today. I'm using an "IBM" PC clone, but I don't think it would be confused with an original PC or XT (though I've had both). Having said that, I have some shipping products that still use the P87C51 and P87C52 in 40 pin DIP. What's your "oldest" cpu in a current product?
