... at least the optos do have significant capacitance (pF or tens of pF) - so that spikes etc. make it through definitively.
You want your USB side grounded properly. Note, that some PCs don't ground properly the USB shield, that's fatal if you fail to do so. In case of a surge, the coupled charge wants to flow in some direction, and you have to make sure, that it's not the data lines. JW |
