Likewise a deliberate obfuscation from Mr Erlacher may impress the reader with his knowledge of 8048 code. That was not an obfuscation. The code is quite similar and anyone with a moderately developed ability to read can compare the instruction sets and quickly recognize the few minor differences. After all, 8051 was initially touted as "source-code-compatible" with the widely popular 8048 though it really wasn't. I would have thought that it is simpler to just not reply if you do not want to help the OP. What, exactly, is it that you think happens much of the time? It's not a polite refusal, but the query simply goes unanswered. Some of us believe it helps the O/P more to correct his misbehavior with an exhortation to do his own work, rather than letting him proceed in blind ignorance. It may have been a long while ago, but we were all young once. The internet may not have existed but if you asked an intelligent question, our elders and betters would have given a helpful reply. They used to say, "God helps those who help themselves." By "help themselves," it didn't suggest simply appropriating what was available, but, rather, it meant doing some work themselves.
