#166608 - To test MAX232 Responding to: Sivanand Somasundaram's previous message |
I suggest do the following to test MAX232 connections.
1- Without any hardware connections, Open hyperterminal, open a COM port (make sure its the one you are thinking you are using) and type in anything. You will not see anything as you type in hyper terminal if echo mode is off 2- After havind done step 1, connect the serial cable to the COM port ans short pin 2 & 3. If you can see the characters as you type in hyper terminal window then this confirms that the comport opening/transmission/reception is correct 3- Follow MAX232 circuit as described in the datasheet. 1uF or 10uF both will work. Make PC serial port connections as suggested in previous message but do not make AT89S52 connections. Instead short MAX_pin_9 with MAX_pin_10. Dont forget to connect Serial port GND (DB_pin_5) with MAX232's GND and powering up MAX232 chip. Open hyper terminal, connect to the COM port and type in anything. If you can see the characters as you type in then this confirms that MAX232 conenctions are correct as well |
