#166733 - Other Bit Banging
Responding to: Per Westermark's previous message
Other indirect methods of bit-banging GPIOs can also be relatively slow.

- Bit banging GPIOs on the end of a USB device can be slowed by the driver and the nature of the USB protocol.

- Bit banging GPIOs on legacy parallel ports under Win-32 when using DLLs such as INPOUT32 or GIVEIO can be slowed by the amount of software layering going on.

With USB devices it can be best to embed the performance driven timing of I/O sequencing into a target MCU rather than leaving the bit by bit manipulation up to host application software.
