Like Richard says, that's the way it is with the 8051 Architecture - if you don't find it acceptable, then you will need to switch to a different Architecture!

Depends what you mean by "internal".
The DATA and IDATA address spaces[1] sizes are fixed by the 8051 Architecture, but there are plenty of chips with large amounts of on-chip XDATA - See: http://www.keil.com/dd/search_parm.asp
