So it might be just as easy to work direct from the datasheet
that's how most people do it. The problem with "other guy's code" always is that there is some feature you want that can not be added (easily) because "that other guy" did not consider it when starting his code. Having a peek at "other guy's code" after having designed your own code can sometimes speed the process up a bit, but for peeking the language does not matter. of course, if your term paper is due tomorrow ....
