#172724 - Where is your head wedged, Erik? Responding to: Erik Malund's previous message |
If you divide 33 by 3 you have nominally the same rate as if you divide 11 by 1. Have you ever actually done the underlying arithmetic involved here?
The problem is one of nomenclature and not of procedure. The MCU won't oscillate at the 3rd harmonic, particularly with the load cap's the O/P said he uses. Those are recommended for 11E6, but are unlikely to work properly with 33E6. If he thinks he's using a crystal oscillator, that's only because he doesn't know that there are, in fact, crystal oscillators, as well as crystals, which are apparently what he's using. Nobody said he NEEDS to use a crystal oscillator. All I said was that if he does as I suggested, it will do what I said it will do. I do that all the time. It works out just fine. Now what's so crazy about any of that? Please don't come out once again with your 1/10^23 imagined precision requirement for accuracy in async comm's. That's just nonsense. Anything under 2.5% to either side of nominal will work fine with 8n1 setup, allowing for the typical 100 ppm. This O/P doesn't need to become embroiled in one of your "food fights", Erik, he just wants to get something to function as he imagines it should. RE |
