#172790 - of course not
Responding to: Brian Reid's previous message
Does the LM2574-5 provide any sort of AC voltage protection?
of course not, you do that with a series diode.
There are means of protecting against the voltages you mention, they all boil down to a series resistor, a diode and a SCR/zener and a transient suppressor (diodes are SLOW) that will blow a fuse.
