BTW, i reread original post of Douglas . Hi asked how bootloader is programmed in factory. I suppose in most micros it is hardcoded (mask ROM alike) .
actually in the early Philips ISP chips the ISP was mask programmed, tooday all (or is it just most?) NXP chips have the ISP in "flash2"
