#181200 - NXP suggests 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 family for 8-bit replaceme
In this video, dated Oct/Nov 2010, a NXP Product Marketing Manager said, around 2:00 min:
NXP is 100% committed now on ARMs. [...] We've got some 8-bit parts, we [??? can't decipher properly] end-of-life them, but there's no roadmap for us for 8-bit. We truly think that the M0 part starts to go into 8- and 16-bit areas.

In a recent product discontinuation notice, NXP announced discontinuation of their lowest-end '51s, including the 'V52X2, 'V/'LV/'CV51RB2 , 'V660, the remainder of the LPC90x line (which has been decimated already) and the LCD-driver-containing multi-chip LPC940x line, with last-time-buy in June 2011. The subject of this post is taken verbatim from the comment of the discontinuation notice for these chips.

This of course is not an unexpected move, but I find it funny they started the sweepout at the lowest-end, where IMHO is the least probability that one would like to replace them with the 32-bitters.
