Did you even open that link? I was surprised as anyone to see the dual-inline package illustrated on that web page. I don't oppose the use of smaller, e.g. SO8 packaging. I've been using SO-8 adapters for years in my wire-wrapped prototypes. On a printed circuit board, I'd happily use the SO-8 as well. At one time, there was a guy who built a website on an SO-8 PIC architecture chip. I found that pretty interesting.
