#96090 - Puh, what antennas... Responding to: Steve M. Taylor's previous message |
Steve said:
Don't ever use prototype board for sensitive analogue designs, or high speed digital. Ahh, you were faster than me... Stanley, what you try with the breadboard will not work!!! At least not, if you use these high gains!!! Shorten the wires of all components to the absolute minimum, so that they sit directly on the breadboard. Then, wire lengths will give shorter antennas. Separate cables from outputs to inputs. No wire from any output must be routed near to an input! You can put a series resistor of about 100...500Ohm directly at output of last OPamp (before LM339). This will minimize danger of oscillation due to capacitive load. This can also help to stabilize your circuit. Stanley, the main error in your application is, that the ultrasonic reciever is not directly sitting at input of your circuit!!!!!!! This will make your circuit oscillate, whatever filtering you use!!! So, please put the reciever DIRECTLY (I mean DIRECTLY) at input of circuit. Every centimeter counts! You can try to use shielded cable here. But keep the cable as short as ever possible!!! This application demands the use of a well layouted printed circuit board. This cannot be done with a breadboard!!! One mess of a breadboard is, that ground connections show too high resistance and inductance, poison for any high gain application. You could try to enhance the ground routing by using more ground wires. If you use this LM318, take care, that this chip is really really fast. And I promise you that you will terribly fail with the breadboard!! This chip can only work with a proper layout. Kai |
