#100161 - simce nobody ventured a guess, here it i
Responding to: Erik Malund's previous message
For safety reasons, the press required two handles to be held for it to operate. An operator lost a finger and sued the manufacturer and won. Do you see the glitch? (no, not that, only one person close to the machine).
Simce nobody ventured a guess, here it is:
there was no check that the handle was released between operations. Thus it was possible to tie one handle down and operate the machine with one hand (and a finger in the machinery). DO NOTE, the manufacturer had to pay even though the safety was overridden by the operator.
