#103337 - tig welder conversion
Responding to: Steve M. Taylor's previous message
Steve there are a number of welding web sites that are almost as good as this site (for welding content) the hobart welding web is very good. shopfloortalk.com is slightly more radical.
From what I have seen you need to build or buy a hf injector to get uncontaminated starts there are a few threads about this but they start with a neon sign or oil burner transformer. from the above I would ust bite the bullet and buy a properly engieered and warranteed tig.
I weld on a daily basis but steel not aluminium and have not yet seen a need for tig in my shop.
If I did it would be a Miller unit or an Esab depending on which dealer was prepaired to treat me better.
Lincoln would be my third choice because the service and warrantie support is awfull. The machines work well though. Terry
