2)the signal and ground traces are routed on the top side.
3)the bottom layer could be made a solid ground plane with the GND pins of the components connected to it.

You don't need to route the ground traces on top side, if you already have a ground plane on bottom side. Or did you mean the ground fill on top side, working as a shield for the various signal traces?
Kai

Since i perform Auto route, the signal traces and ground traces will appear at the top layer and also in the bottom layer.

So for such cases,
is it advisable to form a solid ground plane in the bottom layer (since bottom layer will also contain contain signal traces) that connects to the GND pins of all the components?

If the above mentioned is advisable then...
Secondly, the top layer also contain the GND traces.
So, can i make copper fills in the top layer and connect it to the GND traces (by doing this the top copper fills will connect to the bottom ground plane through the ground pins)?

When i do like this iam getting only signal traces at the top and the rest become ground fills. So, i think this ground fills could act as a shield between signals (and the same happens in the bottom layer).
Also when i do like this, i could also use free vias(connected to GND nets) that connects the ground fills in the top to the bottom layer ground plane.
I would like to know whether this would create any problems.
Suggestions please.
