At 59 bucks a throw, as few as possible. Of course if you were an SAE member you could get yourself a hefty discount I expect. I get a free copy of any book of ASTM standards I want, as a member of that group. Thats very good value to me.

I think you are really going to need a CAN-alyser more than the debug tools for the CPU - I got the impression that monitoring messages without one is pretty tricky.
