#173458 - Current Rating of Thermistor/Inductor
Hi Members,
I am working on designing an SMPS of 24V 1Amp. and on another project that has TRIAC BTA41/600B.

I have referred to many documents during the designing of these products. Here is that relevant information:

For SMPS:

For TRIAC:

Here are my queries:
1. For SMPS we need to put a Thermistor to limit the in-rush current. So what should be the type NTC or PTC ?

2. for SCR: What is the theory of using a thermistor in such an application?
3. My Full Load Current is Max.25Amps.(@ 230VAC) so can a Thermistor pass this much current (@ 230VAC)? or do I need to use an Inductor for this application?
