#187884 - That's not the case

Many Lexmark Cartridges have special chips mounted on or in them that keep track of usage during the time the cartridge is used in the printer. When the printer deems the cartridge empty the chip is written with a marker code that indicates "empty".

If you have happened to try to re-fill the cartridge yourself from one of those low cost re-fill kits the printer will still think the cartridge is empty!!

Could this be the scenario surrounding your PS note on the posting?

Hi Michael:

My original post which was rewritten because my internet connection went down. Also mention I purchased a new cartridge from Staples and it did the same thing. My main problem is not cartridge ink supply but the fact that what I pick in my Arcobat pdf reader does not print correctly. Everything I set it for in percentage is always 100% when it's printed out. Instead the percentage that I pick. Thanks for telling me about the chip on the ink cartridge. I quess I will take an old one apart. I love seeing how electronic components work.

Best regards,

Ralph Sac
