Hi Erik,

I think you're misreading the original job posting. When they say "relevant," they mean in a field other than computer science, but close. A couple of typical examples might be someone with an electronics degree and a masters where they specialized in embedded design, or someone with a mathematics degree and a masters emphasising numerical methods and modeling. On the other hand, if someone came along with a masters in software engineering or computer science, I doubt seriously they'd be rejected in favor of someone with a bachelors (unless the employer was worried that they might be recruited away too quickly).

On the other hand, I'm really not interested in defending modern academia, so never mind.
