Thanks Oliver. Yes as you rightly say the novelty factor is gone for both and maybe embracing Java gives the opportunity on working different platforms and not as restrictive as in the case of the .NET path. But then the proliferation of MS-Windows is not a small thing to write off either and can keep the guy or girl busy for a few more years to come.
