Responding to: Richard Erlacher's previous message
there has been many posts re RS232 adapters that did not work when used beyond "plain vanilla"serial comms. Notably most (except FTDI based) do not work for programming chips.

To the OP: SILabs do not apply since the adapter is not involved in programming
