Hi Richard,

In this specific case I'm experimenting with a means of controlling the impedance of standard edge connectors at a board to board interface. I'm trying to control the impedance of signal traces across multiple boards without resorting to (much more expensive, typically by a factor of 3x or 4x) controlled impedance connectors.

But that's just the immediate question. More importantly, I want this capability in the future, another arrow in my lab's metaphorical quiver if you will. That's why I'm putting so much thought into just what I want to invest in. I want something that will continue to be useful in the future, as new questions arise. On the other hand, since I am my own client, I can tell you with certainty that my client will balk at each and every cent I spend.
