Let's put aside known bad designs, for this case let me state this:
Until one proves a design is prone to fail, it shall be considered correct.

I have seen no evidence of possible failure of the bit-banged USB gadget I gave the link to, except the AT90S2313 overclocking, which
a.) was clearly stated in the description;
b.) is today irrelevant due to the fact that AT90S2313 is obsolete and the replacement ATTiny2313 is rated 20MHz.
