Overview
TDK contracted me as an independent consultant to modify and enchance my
8052 Simulator application to fully simulate the new 2901 microcontroller.
The modified Simulator was used by TDK in order to simulate firmware that
was written for the microcontroller prior to the physical device being available.
Approach
- Identified additional features supported by the TDK 2901 that were not already simulated by the 8052 Simulator.
- Added support for the 2901's core-based mathematics function (MAC).
- Added support for the 2901's 32-bit accumulator.
- Created additional windows within the 8052 Simulator to display the newly simulated features.
Technology
- 8052 Simulator application was written in Visual Basic and Visual C++ as were all modifications required by TDK.
Craig Steiner's Role
- Sole designer and developer of 8052 Simulator and all modifications requested by TDK.
