Overview
Wrote the user manual for the Texas Instruments MSC1210 microcontroller. The
MSC1210 is an 8052-based microcontroller. Based on my authoring of the content at
8052.com, TI hired me as a consultant to write the user manual for this
microcontroller. It can be found here.
Approach
- Used the 8052.com tutorials that I wrote as a basis for the basic 8052 chapters, including internal RAM, SFRs, conditional instructions, assembly language, timers, and serial communication.
- Documented and explained the new SFRs offered by the MSC1210.
- Explained the MSC1210's specialized memory map and the division of code flash memory and data flash memory.
- Explained the MSC1210's analog/digital conversion functions.
- Documented the pulse width/tone generator of the MSC1210.
- Wrote a chapte about the internal Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) feature of the MSC1210.
- Documented additional features of the MSC1210 including low-voltage detect, watchdog, breakpoint generator, power management functions, and serial and parallel programming.
Technology
- Microcontroller used was Texas Instruments MSC1210 and related EVM module.
- Documentation was written in Microsoft Word 2000.
- Documented was edited and marked up in Adobe Acrobat.
Craig Steiner's Role
- Author of the user manual.
